WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced funding for 28 school districts around Michigan as part of the Clean School Bus Program rebate competition.
The program's goal is to help replace existing school buses, and transition to zero-emission vehicles. In West Michigan, the Grand Rapids Public Schools are in line to receive $5.1 million to buy 15 clean school buses. Kent Intermediate School District will get more than $3 million to purchase 15 clean buses. The Kentwood Public Schools will receive $800,000 in rebate funding to buy four clean school buses.
Some other West Michigan districts receiving funding will be the Ludington Area School District, the Comstock Public Schools, and the Three Rivers Community Schools.
