City of Grand Rapids to open public pools, splash pads on June 7

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The City of Grand Rapids will open its pools and splash pads on June 7th.

Pools will be open daily through August 17th and splash pads through September 8th.

Pool admission is one dollar for Grand Rapids residents 17 years old and younger. It's 3-dollars for Grand Rapids residents over 17, and for non-residents 17 and younger.

It costs $5 for non-residents over 17.

The city says it's looking to hire some lifeguards. Interested applicants can apply online HERE. Those who need it can receive free American Red Cross certification.

The city says 10-hole punch cards are available for $8 for residents and $18 for nonresidents. 20-hole punch cards are available for $15 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. Season passes for families up to six people are $80 for residents and $90 for nonresidents.

City splash pads are free to use for all visitors. Here are more details from the city's news release:

 

Open swim hours at Briggs Park pool (350 Knapp St. NE):

  • Mondays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesdays – noon to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Thursdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Sundays – noon to 4 p.m.

 

Open swim hours at Martin Luther King Park pool (1200 MLK Jr. St. SE):

  • Mondays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesdays – noon to 5 p.m.
  • Thursdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Sundays – noon to 4 p.m.

Lap swim hours:

  • Tuesdays – 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Thursdays – 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Saturdays – 9 to 11:30 a.m.

 

Open swim hours at Richmond Park pool (1101 Richmond St. NW):

  • Mondays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Thursdays – noon to 5 p.m.
  • Fridays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays – noon to 7 p.m.
  • Sundays – noon to 4 p.m.

Lap swim hours:

  • Mondays – 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Wednesdays – 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Saturdays – 9 to 11:30 a.m.

 

All pool hours are weather dependent. Cancellations due to weather and maintenance will be announced on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page and the department’s cancellation hotline at 616.456.3699.
