Domestic dispute between couple leads to shooting, stabbing in Robinson Twp

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A 34-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and a 35-year-old man a knife wound in Robinson Township on Monday morning.

Ottawa County Sheriff's Captain Jake Sparks said the husband and wife had been involved in a domestic squabble around 8:45 a.m. And the man was shooting at the woman and a child.

No names have been released.

In a news release, Capt. Sparks said there were five children on scene, but none was injured.

It began in the area of 96th Avenue and Winans Street. Police were informed of the incident by a neighbor who called them. Deputies arrived on the scene to find the couple with injuries. The woman had been shot at least twice, and the man had a neck wound. They were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.

Police say a 16-year-old stabbed the man to prevent him from causing any more injury to the woman. They say he will be taken to the Ottawa County Jail and booked on assault charges once he is released from the hospital.

96th Avenue was shut down from approximately 0900 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. while investigators worked the crime scene. 96th Ave.

" There is no threat to the community and all subjects involved have been accounted for," Capt. Sparks said in the news release.
