Fire simulation slated as part of emergency exercise Wednesday in Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. -- An emergency training exercise will take place Wednesday morning in Holland, starting at 9 o'clock.

It will involve a fire simulation inside a building on The Farmstead. That is the site of a new independent-living facility at 875 East 24th Street, which is east of Waverly Road. The city says Resthaven and the Holland Fire Department will be working in collaboration to develop an emergency-response plan there.

Tri-County Fire Inspectors and E-V Construction also are helping to develop the emergency-response plan.

Per a City of Holland news release: "This event facilitated by the Holland Fire Department and Resthaven will provide a proactive approach to preparedness and response phases of the emergency management process. Fire Inspectors will tour the independent living facility and will develop a working plan to be used later in the morning for the completion of a functional exercise.

The exercise will involve a fire simulation inside the building. In this scenario, the Holland Fire Department and their mutual aid partners will initiate a response and activate the plan in coordination with Resthaven staff. The event will culminate with a post incident analysis with information that can be provided to Resthaven to finalize an effective response plan for their facility."
