GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids firefighters have knocked down a house fire this afternoon in the 500 block of Woodlawn Street SE.
That is north of Hall Street and east of Madison Avenue. It broke out around 1:50 p.m.
GRFD Capt. William Smith said there was some heavy, black smoke reported. The fire marshal said everyone got out safely, and it was quickly brought under control. Crews remain on the scene as of mid-afternoon Wednesday. So far, there have been no reports of injuries. A fire investigator was summoned to the scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
"A man was observed running into the home, and the children were retrieved," Smith said in a news release. "We responded to the same block of Woodlawn on 4/27. The cause of that fire is currently under investigation."
