State Rep. Greg VanWoerkom announces re-election bid

LANSING, Mich. -- State Representative Greg VanWoerkom plans to run for re-election in the 88th House District.

He made the announcement Wednesday.

The district covers several shoreline communities in Ottawa and Muskegon counties. VanWoerkom is the lead Republican on the House Tax Policy Committee and the Labor Economic Opportunity Appropriations Subcommittee.

His office provided more details on the announcement in a news release:

The 88th State House District encompasses Ferrysburg, Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Norton Shores, along with the townships of Crockery, Grand Haven, Olive, Port Sheldon, and Robinson.

“It has been an honor to serve as State Representative and be a voice for the lakeshore in Lansing. I want to continue my work to improve our economy and find solutions to ever increasing pressures on the family budget.”

In the past term, VanWoerkom has delivered results for the people of West Michigan, including:

● Common sense legislation to protect the victims of crime

● Research and Development Tax Credit to help spur innovation in our state

● Secured funding for the district, including the: ○ Tri-Cities YMCA ○ Environmental cleanup at Harbor Island in Grand Haven and Mona Lake in Norton Shores ○ Preserving and improving Ottawa Sands Park and Rosy Mound Natural Area.

VanWoerkom serves as the lead Republican on the House Tax Policy Committee and the Labor Economic Opportunity Appropriations Subcommittee and serves on the Health Policy Committee and the Small Business and Economic Development Committee. He was named the 2023 Small Business Association of Michigan Legislator of the Year for his continued work on child care affordability.
