GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Police have posted screen-captured still photos of a person of interest in a fatal hit-and-run crash on March 10. And also the suspect vehicle before the crash.
The GRPD is asking for the public's help in locating the man believe to have been behind the wheel of the SUV that struck 53-year-old Roberto Delgato while he was walking across Division Avenue near Andre Street early that Sunday morning. That location is a couple blocks south of Burton Street. Police said he died at the scene.
They identified the vehicle as a dark-colored Honda Pilot with a model year between 2006 and 2008.
The GRPD is asking anyone who can help identify or locate the person of interest to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department or Silent Observer. Silent Observer [(616) 774-2345] is offering up to $32,00 for tips leading to an arrest in the incident.
The northbound SUV hit Delgato around 3:15 a.m., and left the scene without stopping. The victim died at the scene, despite life-saving attempts.
Meanwhile, the Grand Rapids Police are still searching for the driver in a separate (unrelated) fatal hit-and-run. They say 55-year-old pedestrian Donna Nguyen was hit while walking across 28th Street at Eastern Avenue on March 17th. That crash also occurred early on a Sunday morning. Police say the car involved likely was a blue 2019 Ford Fusion.
