Good Samaritans rescue three men after boat capsizes in Grand River

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Fire Department says three men have survived a harrowing experience on the Grand River late Friday morning.

Just before noon, their boat overturned on the Grand River near the Sixth Street Dam. WOOD-TV reports one of the men had to be revived by CPR.

Some Good Samaritans brought the men to shore with at least one rescue boat, according to Fire Department Captain William Smith. He told WOOD Radio,

"Although it was a bad day for this group that needed the rescue, it could have had a worse ending for all. Boats and equipment can be replaced, people cannot."
