MSP investigating cause of fatal rollover crash east of Hamilton

HEATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Michigan State Police are investigating whether alcohol contributed to a fatal one-vehicle rollover crash last night east of Hamilton.

Troopers from the Wayland post responded around 7 o'clock to the crash location on 134th Avenue near 42nd Street in Heath Township. They say it appears the driver lost control of his SUV, which went off the road and rolled over before hitting a fence.

The 49-year-old Hamilton man later died at a hospital. MSP said he was initially taken to Holland Hospital , but was later transferred to Grand Rapids Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital, where he died.

Troopers say they were assisted at the scene by Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton Fire/ Rescue, and Holland AMR Ambulance. This crash remains open pending further investigation.
