Ottawa County Commissioner Rebekah Curran says she will now run for Michigan's open U.S Senate seat as a Republican.
Curran represents District 7 Ottawa County, with precincts in Georgetown Township. She was initially vetted by Ottawa Impact, a conservative group led by Chairman Joe Moss, but then withdrew her affiliation in May of 2022.
Even as she seeks the seat, Curran said she still plans on fulfilling her duties as a commissioner and serving the remainder of her term.
