GR soccer stadium could help push for new housing in downtown GR

Grand Action 2.0 says this and their other project, the planned amphitheater along the Grand River on Market Avenue near US- 131 are being considered 'catalyst' projects for housing developments in the area. This comes as the greater Grand Rapids area, along with the rest of the country, faces a housing crisis. One study in 2022 by Housing Next found the city of Grand Rapids needs around 14,000 housing units and the rest of Kent County needs 20,500 by 2027.
