Whitecaps announce chef competition to determine Ultimate Fan Food for 2024

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- The West Michigan Whitecaps will host a culinary competition between chefs, who will try to create the next food item that will appear on the ballpark menu.

The winning chef will receive a gift basket full of Whitecaps merchandise, plus complementary tickets to upcoming Whitecaps games.

The contest takes place March 14 at Grand Rapids Community College's Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. The Whitecaps are known for creativity when it comes to food options. They once offered a 4,800-calorie burger that was on the menu for about a decade before being retired.

In Food Network “Chopped” style, chefs will compete against one another in the quest to create the newest concession item for the upcoming baseball season. Participating chefs will be provided with a curated list of ingredients to fashion a culinary delight, with 30 minutes to skillfully assemble their unique fan food creations. A distinguished panel of proclaimed ballpark foodies will judge the entries based on taste, presentation, ease of assembly, uniqueness, and “eat-ability”. The winning chef will be recognized as the official creator of the 2024 Ultimate Fan Food and will receive a lavish gift basket filled with exclusive Whitecaps merchandise. The Champion will also be treated to complimentary tickets to upcoming Whitecaps games, allowing them to savor the excitement of minor league baseball from the stands. 

Chefs interested in participating are invited to submit their name and contact information to Promotions@whitecapsbaseball.com. Submissions should be sent by Wednesday, March 6th. Participants will be notified by Friday, March 8th if selected to participate.
