Gilda's Club to host 'Black Love' open house Saturday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- An open house this Saturday at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids will help celebrate Black History Month. The club's Minority Outreach Coordinator, Tracey Whiting, says the free event is called "Black Love" and will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

"It will highlight the intimacy of love in the African-American community, from family to romantic, to kinship to community," Whiting said.

Organizers mentioned that it will be a "time of community and gathering" to celebrate the intimacies and many layers of relationships within the African American community, including family and friends.

Registration for the event is encouraged. You can do via this Gilda's Club webpage. Or, call 616.453.8300.

The event will include light refreshments and various activities.

"To show what one love looks like. You can make a bouquet, you can paint a picture. And this will help people to emote their emotions in an abstract way," Whiting said.

The Black Love event is open to the community and, as mentioned, free of charge.
