GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids has announced a new professional membership for professional caregivers.
It is in honor of National Caregivers’ Day, celebrated nationwide on February 16.
Here is more information from a news released provided by Seyferth P.R.
“It is a natural next step for us to provide support to the professional caregivers in our community who are so compassionately serving those living with cancer or grief,” said Clare Portinga, Vice President of Program at Gilda’s Club. “There are nurses, social workers, physicians, chaplains, and more who go to work, day after day and walk with people through some of the most difficult experiences of their lives. We know that there is an emotional toll to this work and that burn out is real for people in the caring professions.”
Gilda’s Club provides support for people living with cancer as well as their family and friends, also supporting those grieving the death of a loved one. The addition of a professional membership gives professional caregivers such as nurses or physicians a special place to take care of themselves and refill the energy and kindness that they offer to others.
The club plans to offer workshops such as “Unpacking Emotions”, and will include meditation, yoga, Reiki, game nights, and more. Like the Gilda’s Club general membership, the professional membership will be free of charge.
