U.S. Rep. Huizenga talks about Special Counsel report on Biden

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Biden disagrees vehemently with a Justice Department report describing him " a senior citizen with not a great memory."

Biden addressed the nation Thursday night after a DOJ report cleared him of any criminal charges related to his storing of classified documents at his personal residence. However, he angrily refuted a special counsel (Robert Hur) report that paints the 81-year-old president as a man with "diminished capacities."

President Biden also dismissed Hur's assertion that he "willfully retained" the classified materials, and Hur's claim that he did not press charges because a jury would probably find reasonable doubt.

Fourth District Congressman Bill Huizenga commented on the decision on WOOD Radio's West Michigan's Morning News.

"It smacks of what many people are fearing, feeling these days, which is you've got one system of justice for everyone else, and another system of justice if your last name is Trump. And I think it plays into that," Huizenga said.

The West Michigan Republican described Biden's news conference as a "train wreck."

"It did not play well," Huizenga said.

Shifting to another topic, the Congressman said he expects the federal government to extend the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative within the next year. The program provides funding to 16 federal organizations to target the biggest threats to the Great Lakes ecosystem. He says it has been raised to $475 million annually for the entire Great Lakes system, and they're trying to get it boosted to $500 million each year.

"This is significant for the state, and the ecology and the economy, and the entire Great Lakes," Huizenga said, adding there has been "great" bipartisan support for the effort.
