Teen charged with murder in connection with deadly crash

The teen who police say was driving a stolen car that led to a pursuit that ended in a deadly crash in Grand Rapids last year, will now face a murder charge as an adult.

A one 16-year-old Armani Brown is charged with second-degree murder, felony first-degree fleeing police and felony receiving and concealing a stolen car.

The crash happened in the early morning of June 10th. Michigan State Police said a trooper tried to pull over the stolen car on eastbound I-96, but the driver took off

Eventually, the driver lost control on the eastbound ramp to southbound US-131 in Walker and crashed. 16-year-old Amir Jones was thrown from the vehicle and killed.

Brown is expected to be back in court on February 6th. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
