GR Public Museum moves ahead with $50 million expansion

The Grand Rapids Public Museum says its $50 million expansion is moving forward since it began this past fall.

In a news release, the museum said it has secured $4 million in state funding from Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. for the expansion, And the Grand Rapids City Commission on Tuesday approved an agreement with construction company Owen-Ames-Kimball for the next phase of the project.

The museum says the expansion will develop stair and ramp systems in order to make the riverfront more accessible. It will also link a 7.5-mile urban trail to regional trails, including the White Pine Trail.
