After offering the Grand Rapids community free sleds and snow gear, GR Outside is now saying 'nearly all' the sleds they have offered through their free 'sled libraries' have disappeared.
The program was meant to offer free sleds at Richmond Park, Mulick Park and Plaster Creek Park; with the caveat being that the sleds are free, but you're meant to return them after you're done sledding on the hill so that others may enjoy it. You are NOT meant to take the sleds home, but it seems that that's exactly what people are doing, as the sled libraries have been depleted.
GR Outside say they have tried to restock the libraries, but the sleds have been disappearing too quickly. The sled stations will remain open for the rest of the season, but GR Outside will no longer be adding sleds - although anyone is welcome to donate.
