Rockford Students Compete Against AI to Predict Snow Days

Students at Rockford High School's AP Statistics class are competing against AI to see who will better predict snow days this winter.

Teacher Tina Shutich says her students use data in a few categories to work out the likelihood of a snow day. The same information they use is also fed to Blizzard, the name they assigned to the AI bot.

For example, the class predicted a 3% chance of a snow day on Wednesday. Blizzard forecasted a 45% chance. Rockford Public Schools ultimately did call it on Wednesday due to the weather. The rivalry is helping engage students and introduce them to their future reality alongside AI.
