As the winter storm rages on, AAA is suggesting tips on how to minimize winter weather damage to your homes. Below-freezing temperatures can cause severe damage to a home's heating, plumbing and exterior features.
Here are just some of the small steps they say you can take to minimize any potential damage:
- Remove hoses from exterior faucets.
- Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate around the pipes
- Know and locate where your water shutoff valve is so you can turn off the water in case of an emergency
- Allow faucets to drip a little bit to prevent freezing your pipes
As well as tips on how to minimize damages, AAA also shared how certain damages to a home can be covered by insurance, and some may not. To learn more, head on over to WOOD TV.
