AAA Shares Tips on How to Minimize Winter Weather Damage to Homes

As the winter storm rages on, AAA is suggesting tips on how to minimize winter weather damage to your homes. Below-freezing temperatures can cause severe damage to a home's heating, plumbing and exterior features.

Here are just some of the small steps they say you can take to minimize any potential damage:

  • Remove hoses from exterior faucets.
  • Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate around the pipes
  • Know and locate where your water shutoff valve is so you can turn off the water in case of an emergency
  • Allow faucets to drip a little bit to prevent freezing your pipes

As well as tips on how to minimize damages, AAA also shared how certain damages to a home can be covered by insurance, and some may not. To learn more, head on over to WOOD TV.
