Celebration Cinema South movie theater to undergo renovations

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Studio C has announced major upgrades will be coming to Celebration Cinema South movie theater in Gaines Charter Township.

The 19-year-old theater is located just north of M-6 (Paul Henry Freeway), off Kalamazoo Avenue. The address is 1506 Eastport Drive SE. Celebration Cinema theaters are owned and operated by Studio C, a Loeks company.

Emily Loeks is the director of Public Relations and Community Affairs for Celebration Cinema. She said they will be installing new seats in the 10-screen multiplex.

"The community might notice most, at first, the fact that we're installing the luxury recliners that we've had at our Celebration Cinema North and Studio Park locations," Loeks said. "These are (Irwin Seating Co.) luxury recliners. We've tested a lot of seats, and these are our favorites."

Other renovations include a full kitchen to support expanded food and beverage offerings.

"You will be able to get beer on draft. You'll also be able to get sliders, pizza and nachos, wraps and quesadillas. And a lot of the menu options that have been available at some of our other theaters with kitchens," Loeks said.

Other renovations will include an auditorium at Celebration South.

"We have some news forthcoming in the next month or so that I will tease right now, in that we are going to be having a premium viewing experience theater - with some more details that we will be announcing soon," Loeks said.

"There's just nothing like the communal experience of a great movie on a giant screen in a dark auditorium. And now, people will be able to do that kicking back in the comfort of these recliners," Loeks said.
