Robert Kozminski Memorial Basketball Game set for Feb. 10

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Admission will be free to the annual Robert Kozminski Memorial Basketball Game on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office is hosting the event at Kenowa Hills High School, starting at 5 p.m.

Children will be able to shoot hoops with some local police officers. Saladino Smoke will be serving food that you can buy on-site, and K9s from the sheriff's office will be there.

Detroit Wing Company is sponsoring the second wing-eating contest between the GRPD and the Kent County Sheriff's Office.

Grand Rapids Police Officer Robert Kozminski was fatally shot while responding to a call in 2007.

Organizers say donations and proceeds from raffle tickets will benefit Elizabeth Bechaz, wife of GRPD Officer Cody Bechaz, who was diagnosed in June 2023 with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
