Grand Rapids Public Museum's Carousel to Close... Temporarily

The beloved 1928 Spillman Carousel at the Grand Rapids Public Museum has announced that it will close for about a year to make way for an expansion project.

In a news release, the museum announced that the entire Cook Carousel Pavilion will undergo major renovations as part of a project that began last fall and throughout the rest of the year. The plan being to create more outdoor space around the museum along the Grand River.

The project is expected to cost $50 million and will be the first major expansion at the museum since it opened nearly 30 years ago. The carousel is expected to return sometime in the Spring of 2025.
