Aides to Former MI House Speaker Chatfield Charged with Financial Crimes

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced in a news conference today that Ann and Robert Minard, top aides to former Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield, were to be charged with multiple crimes related to lobbying efforts, political nonprofits and misappropriation of funds.

"The Minard's held leadership roles in both the House of Representatives and their independent consulting firm. They are Lansing powerbrokers... who boast tremendous access to the realms of government and campaign politics. The evidence uncovered today, supports allegations that the Minard's used these contractual relationships to enrich themselves in ways not permissible by the law," she says.

Nessel alleges the couple have misappropriated over $500,000 dollars.

The Minard's arraignment date is scheduled for January 3rd, and investigation into allegations made against Chatfield are still ongoing.
