GR Man Charged with Animal Cruelty; Dead, Live Snakes Found in Home

A 31-year-old Grand Rapids man has been charged with animal cruelty after 27 animals, including snakes, spiders and at least one amphibian, were seized and several more snakes were found dead at his home.

On. Oct. 22nd, a Kent County sheriff's deputy was called to the man's home in the Southwood Village mobile home park, initially in response to a child custody dispute. However, once there the deputy found 27 live animals and 10 dead snakes in the home. That was when he called animal control.
