WYOMING, Mich. -- The Wyoming Department of Public Safety has taken a 15-year-old Godfrey-Lee Public Schools student into custody for allegedly bringing a handgun to school Friday morning.
It was at the East Lee campus, 982 Lee St. SW. The DPS says it received a call around 9:20 a.m. from school staffers about the firearm. They say it was found in a student's backpack.
Staff had heard about the weapon being in the school through word of mouth "rumors."
Police say the case will be sent to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office to determine what charges may be filed.
