NORTH MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The cities of Muskegon, Muskegon Heights and North Muskegon have moved trick-or-treating in their communities to this Saturday night.
The city said that is because cleanup and power-restoration efforts continue following Tuesday's winter storm. Some lakeshore communities received more than nine inches of snow. The initial idea was to move the trick-or-treating to Wednesday night, because the weather was more favorable.
But there were too many power outages - 24,271 as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday - and too much debris to make that practical.
Consumers Energy crews have been working since Tuesday night to restore power to homes and businesses still without electrical service.
Meanwhile, a warming station has opened in Muskegon Heights City Hall. Officials ask you to enter through the front doors, and then go into Council Chambers.
