GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The City of Grand Rapids' seasonal parking restrictions take effect Wednesday, Nov. 1, starting at 12:01 a.m.
On odd dates between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m., motorists will have to park on the side of the street with odd addresses. At least, on streets designated with seasonal parking signs. Parking is prohibited on the even numbered side of the street. On an even date between those times, parking is prohibited on the odd-numbered side of the street during those hours.
The restrictions run until April 1, at 11:59 p.m.
Parking is prohibited at all times on the posted side of the street.
The city says the seasonal parking restrictions allow crews to plow the streets during the winter months, and to sweep them during the late fall.
"t also helps us prevent the City's street from becoming flooded in the winter due to clogged catch basins. It also helps emergency vehicles access neighborhoods during heavy snow seasons," the city says on its website.
It says citizens can report a seasonal parking violation at the following website.
Residents also may request city staff to review their street to see if adding or changing Seasonal Parking Restrictions is appropriate. There is a list of criteria and conditions that are used to determine if Seasonal Parking Restrictions are needed. This is the link for that.
