OCSO identifies victim in apparent homicide in Holland Township

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies have released the name of the man who evidently was murdered in Holland Township on Sunday night.

That was in the Falcon Woods apartment complex on Woodview Lane, west of 120th Avenue and south of Riley Street. Deputies were called to the location around 9 o'clock on a report of shots fired. They say they found 36-year-old Shevell Cordell Shelton the man dead inside an apartment and say it was likely a homicide.

Anyone with additional information should contact the Sheriff's Office or Silent Observer.

The Sheriff's Office released a news release late Monday afternoon. Hereis the scripted portion:

The victim in this incident has been identified as 36 year old Shevell Shelton of Holland Township.

This morning, a forensic autopsy was completed at Blodgett Hospital, by Chief Medical Examiner- Dr. David Start. The death was determined to have been caused by a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled Homicide. No one else was injured during this incident and detectives are still working to attempt to identify a suspect.
