The Right Place releases progress report on regional tech strategy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Right Place Inc. economic development organization has released a progress report one year after publicly launching a 10-year Tech Strategy for the Greater Grand Rapids region.

The goal is to position the area as a leading tech cluster in the Midwest, and to generate 20,000 jobs in the tech sector over the next decade. The report indicates tech employment has grown since the Tech Strategy was developed, and the value of venture capital investments has recovered following a lull during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We're seeing that we're a little bit ahead of pace. We've had 3,400 new jobs since we first launched the report. And these new tech jobs are created in a wide variety of industries across the region. And it's not just tech companies. Tech really cuts across all of our industries, and helps make all of our industries more competitive in the region," said Andria Romkema, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at The Right Place.
