Police identify man who died in shootout with deputies in Ravenna Twp.

RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Muskegon County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect who died in a shootout with officers in Ravenna Township on August 14th.

That followed a report of shots fired inside a home and a subsequent police chase that ended with a crash. Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Muskegon Township Police Department, Fruitport Township Police Department, Muskegon Heights Police Department and the Michigan State Police were involved in the vehicle pursuit.

Police say Zachary Joseph Johnson then opened fire, and officers returned fired, killing the 28-year-old man.

A sheriff's deputy, Joshua Hankins, was shot, but survived.
