RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A hospital has released Muskegon County Sheriff's Deputy Joshua Hankins, even though he was shot multiple times during a shootout Monday morning in Ravenna Township.
Police had responded to a report of shots fired inside a home during a domestic dispute.
Around 1 a.m., an officer tried to pull over the suspect's vehicle but it did not stop. Police say they pursued the fleeing vehicle for several miles before it crashed into a ditch at Slocum and Neil roads.
The Muskegon County Sheriff's Office says the suspect then opened fire on the officers, who returned fire and killed the suspect. His name has not been released yet. Michigan State Police are investigating.
