SEATTLE, WA. -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says some organic green kiwi fruit is being recalled due to a possible health risk.
David Oppenheimer & Company is voluntarily recalling the Zespri brand kiwi fruit because of a potential Listeria contamination. They were sold in one-pound clear plastic clamshells. The product was grown in New Zealand and exported to North America. Michigan is one of the states where it was sold.
No illnesses have been reported, so far. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
