GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- D.A. Blodgett-St. John's will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon for a nearly $14 million headquarters facility opening at 2172 Dean Lake Avenue in northeast Grand Rapids.
That is north of Knapp Street. The two-story building serves as the nonprofit’s administrative hub, but it also integrates all children and family services into one location. That is a first since the 2010 merger of the St. John's Home with the children's facility.
The ribbon-cutting will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday.

D.A Blodgett-St. John’s will formally open its new $14m headquarters and care facility on its expanded integrated campus at 2172 Dean Lake Avenue in NE Grand Rapids this Thursday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. The new 43,000 SF facility finally integrates all of DABSJ’s staff and services on one campus, more than 10 years after the merger of D.A. Blodgett and St. John’s Home, both of which were founded in 1887.
A public ribbon cutting ceremony featuring remarks from organization leaders, campaign officials, local dignitaries and representatives from the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
Combined, the 136-year-old organization impacts 14,000 people annually while also saving $2M over the next two decades by consolidating operations into one central facility.
The integrated campus features expanded programming space, administrative offices, health and family clinic, community meeting space, gymnasium and educational and wellness space for the children and families supported by the organization. The building also contains many intentional features that may be easily overlooked by the public but are incredibly impactful to the youth and families served at the facility.
