MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The A-10 Thunderbolt demonstration team will be headlining the Wings Over Muskegon Air Show this weekend.
Brenda Kerfoot is the communications coordinator for the Yankee Air Museum, which be bringing its Aviation Experience Tour to the Muskegon CountyAirport. She tells WOOD Radio there also will be classic aircraft at the air show, including a couple of World War Two bombers, plus a C-47 transport plane and a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter.
"A first for Muskegon is the demo pilot and leader/commander of the team, a female. There have been female demonstration pilots, but we've never had one in Muskegon before. Her name is Capt. Lindsey Johnson," Kerfoot said.
The demonstration will be combined with a heritage flight.
"And that means they're flying a World War II aircraft. In this case, it will be a P-51, which was a fighter in World War II," Kerfoot said. "That will fly in formation with her in the A-10, to pay homage to those that have come before them in a long line of military aviators and what we have today. So, we're looking forward to that performance on both Saturday and Sunday."
She said it will be a "phenomenal demonstration."
Tickets and parking must be purchased online at WingsOverMuskegon.com . There is a "Tickets" button on top of the webpage that you can click on. Kerfoot said the online system will save people in vehicles from having to spend a long time in line at the gate.
