TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances that led to a 17-year-old Kent City boy being dragged by a car in Tyrone Township yesterday afternoon.
It happened around 2 o'clock in the area of Fruit Ridge Avenue and 20 Mile Road.
Sergeant Eric Brunner tells WOOD Radio a group of teens inside the car got into an argument with some teens who were standing outside the vehicle about the sale of a vape pen.
"We're still trying to figure out the exact details of how it happened, but a 17-year-old from Kent City was dragged by the vehicle a certain distance, and at some point in time became detached from the vehicle and was found in the roadway by first responders in critical condition," Brunner said.
The 17-year-old was still in very critical condition Friday morning.
As of the time of publication late Friday morning, police had not released the name of the victim or anyone else. The Sheriff's Office plans to submit the findings from its investigation to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office for review and consideration of possible charges.
"Our investigators have identified and interviewed all of those who were involved," Brunner said, adding that they all are 15 to 17 years old.
