Grand Action 2.0 to host open house Monday night on amphitheater plans

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The nonprofit economic development organization Grand Action 2.0 will host a community open house this (Monday) evening at Van Andel Arena.

It concerns the future development of an amphitheater along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. Design architects and engineers from Progressive A-E will present an update on plans for the 12-thousand-seat amphitheater and 31-acre site. The $116 million facility is proposed to be built along Market Avenue south of Cherry Street.

The presentation will include information on the latest preliminary designs, the anticipated project timeline and outcomes of studies on sound, traffic, and parking. The open house will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Organizers say the amphitheater will generate 480 jobs and 490-million dollars in net economic impact over 30 years.
