Suspect in April 29 shooting outside hotel now charged with murder

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Kentwood Police say formal charges have been read against a 35-year-old suspect in a fatal shooting outside a hotel on April 29th.

It occurred around 4:45 a.m. during an argument at the Affordable Suites of America, 2701 East Beltline Avenue. That is near 28th Street SE.

Police say Jerry Kidd Jr. was arraigned Monday in 62B District Court on open murder and felony firearms charges for allegedly shooting Edgar Hernandez-Sandoval, 41, once with a handgun. Police officers, along with members of the Kentwood Fire Department and LIFE EMS, rendered aid, but Hernandez-Sandoval died at the scene. Kidd is being held in the Kent County Correctional Facility.

Kidd Jr. is currently being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
