GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The City of Grand Rapids will soon be drawing up its first Community Master Plan in two decades.
It is holding a series of public-input meetings to get feedback on the process in each ward. The city is calling them "launch parties." The one that was postponed February 22nd due to a snowstorm will take place Wednesday afternoon, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be for First Ward residents.
The location is Harrison Park Academy on Davis Avenue. The master plan guides longterm residential, commercial and industrial development in a community.
According to the city, the first two February CMP Launch Parties drew 230 residents who provided feedback.
Grand Rapids is working with Planning NEXT, a nationally recognized municipal planning consultant, to create a CMP that captures the community’s vision for the next 20 years. The CMP is the blueprint that will guide how the city grows and develops.
There will be additional opportunities, with new activities, for public input during the next phase of the Community Master Plan process in the spring. For more information on the Community Master Plan visit BridgetoourFuture.com.
To register, RSVP HERE. Reservations are not required but desired. The city says the RSVP will help secure the proper amount of food and materials. For those unable to attend, BridgetoourFuture.com contains various CMP activities and ways to engage.
