Community Clean-Up Day set for April 22 in City of Wyoming

WYOMING, Mich. -- Wyoming residents can drop off trash and other unwanted items during Community Clean-Up Day on April 22.

The hours on that Saturday will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grand Rapids First Church, 2100 44th St. SW, Wyoming MI 49519. Plummers Disposal will provide the refuse hauling.

Residents are asked by the city to enter the parking lot through the northeast entrance off of 44th St. SW and follow the relevant signage. All residents are asked to be in line by 1:30 p.m. in order to dispose of their items.

“We’re excited to offer the cleanup once again to assist hundreds of Wyoming families,” event organizer Lew Manley said in a news release. “Our annual clean-up day helps to beautify our neighborhoods and reduce the risk of blight throughout the community.”

In addition to the event, the Wyoming Yard Waste Drop-Off site, located at 2660 Burlingame Ave SW, will be open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. There are no limits to the size of branches or shrubs accepted at the site; however, residents must unload the yard waste themselves and all containers must be removed from the facility.

Proof of residency identification is required at both sites. Some items, such as tires and mattresses, will have a modest disposal fee, $12 and $22 respectively.

Unlike in years past, household hazardous waste such as paint, aerosols and other hazardous liquids, will not be accepted at the event. Residents wishing to dispose of these materials can visit the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site, located at 2350 Ivanrest Ave SW, that is open Mondays 1 – 3 p.m. and Thursdays 7 – 9 a.m.

For more information, a complete list of items that are acceptable and special item disposal fees, visit wyomingmi.gov/cleanup or call the City of Wyoming at (616) 530-7226.
