GRPD identifies victims in double-fatality car crash on Walker Avenue

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Police say two people were killed late Sunday night when their car crashed into a tree on the city's northwest side.

It happened just before 10:30 on Walker Avenue at Blueberry Drive. Police say the driver, Justin Williamson, lost control of the car before it hit the tree. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later. Police say the 24-year-old passenger, Jerra Woznick, was declared dead at the scene.

Police say speeding was a factor in the crash. They think it was going more than 100 miles an hour before it crashed. Investigators don't know yet whether alcohol was involved.

The crash remains under investigation by the GRPD Traffic Unit. Anyone with information on this crash is encouraged to contact the Traffic Unit at (616) 456-3771.
