Wyoming Public Safety says apartment complex on Michael Ave hit by bullets

WYOMING, Mich. -- Wyoming Public Safety says a man is dead and a woman injured following a shooting this afternoon at an apartment complex. That's according to WOOD-TV.

It happened just after 1 o'clock. Wyoming Public Safety confirmed to WOOD Radio around 2 p.m. that the scene had been secured and there was no threat to the public.

The location was on Michael Avenue, south of Burton Street Southwest. No names had been released at the time of this publication mid-afternoon Friday. Police also said a second woman was injured but not by gunfire. A sliding glass door was shot out on the third floor of the apartment building, per WOOD-TV.

The condition of the two injured women was not available at print time, as police were still investigating.

This was the latest of several shootings in the city, lately. On Sunday night, the Department of Public Safety reported that several gunshots were fired at a home on Galewood Avenue, allegedly by a 19-year-old man. Someone inside the home supposedly returned fire at the vehicle as it sped away. That person, also 19, was arrested. No one was hurt.

On Jan. 21, several bullets were fired into a duplex on Buchanan Avenue near 32nd St. SW. Wyoming DPS said a sleeping 50-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder during that early-morning incident. Police said a silver sports car was seen speeding away after that shooting.
