COOPERSVILLE, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office has released more information about a burglary that happened Monday morning in Coopersville.
They say more than 5-thousand dollars worth of items were stolen from the Funky Monkey Smoke Shop in the 11-hundred block of West Randall Street. Those items include cash, smoking devices and inventory. A full list of stolen items is still being compiled by business owners. Some of the items include cash, stolen property, an unregistered pistol and other evidence.
Detectives continue to catalogue the items that were recovered from the suspects and their getaway vehicle. Police say it crashed on the 16th Avenue exit ramp in Marne while they were fleeing from deputies who had tried to pull them over.
The four burglars got out and took off running but a police dog tracked them to a church building. Later, deputies said they found a large amount of stolen items in the vehicle.
The suspects are all from Grand Rapids, and their ages range from 16 to 19. The Sheriff's Office says they are locked up in the Ottawa County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center, pending formal charges.
Sheriff's detectives say they are aware of numerous other business burglaries and stolen vehicles in the surrounding counties over the last few weeks. Detectives believe these suspects may also be involved in crimes in neighboring jurisdictions and continue to work closely with other agencies.
