HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says a 16-year-old is in custody after allegedly fleeing from police Friday morning.
Deputies had responded around 5:30 a.m. Friday to a report of a suspicious vehicle circling the neighborhoods with its lights off near Sentry RD and Woodfield Dr in Holland Township. Supposedly, a teen had gotten out of a Jeep Cherokee and began checking the doors on vehicles parked in several driveways.
Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area and located the Jeep Cherokee and a blue minivan leaving the area. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicles but both fled from the attempted traffic stop.
Police say they chased the vehicles before eventually ending the chase in the area of Byron Rd and 48th Ave. Deputies later located the blue minivan stuck in the snow in the 1800 block of Byron Rd where they took a 16-year-old Juvenile into custody.
The Blue minivan was determined to have been stolen from the neighborhoods near the initial suspicious vehicle call. The light-colored Jeep Cherokee was not located and remains outstanding.
Police say the teenage suspect's name won't be released. He was odged at the Ottawa County Youth home on several charges related to this incident, which remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
