GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A state senator from Walker says he is "deeply disappointed" that the Kent County G-O-P headquarters was vandalized this week in Grand Rapids.
The outside of the building at 725 Lake Michigan Drive Northwest was spray-painted with graffiti. It included some anti-semitic and white-supremacy symbols. Senator Mark Huizenga tells WOOD radio it's shameful and disgusting.
"It's one of those things where it's always disappointing because we live in a democracy where we're supposed to have respect for each other. And hate has no home, when we see things like that," Huizenga said in a phone interview.
Senator Huizenga says he is sure steps will be taken to remove the graffiti right away.
"The first step we really want to do is make sure we can remove the graffiti, and make sure that we restore (the building) to the position that it once was," Huizenga said.
