Kent County Medical Examiner confirms Jontell White's death a homicide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Police have confirmed that Jontell White was the 30-year-old man who was shot dead outside the Metro Grand Rapids club early Saturday morning.

Police officers heard gunshots and responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m. to find White was already dead. The location was 1901 S. Division Ave., which is between Burton and Griggs streets.

The GRPD issued a news release Tuesday afternoon saying the Kent County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

Grand Rapids Police say their Major Case Team is continuing its investigation, and asks anyone with more information to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department or Silent Observer. Detectives can be reached at (616) 456-3380 or tips can be sent anonymously through Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345, or on its website.

WOOD-TV reported White was a father of two children.
