WALKER, Mich. -- Kent County Central Dispatch tells WOOD Radio four fire departments are working to put out an apartment fire this evening in the City of Walker.
It broke out a little after 3 o'clock this afternoon at the Green Ridge Apartments. That is on North Center Drive off Alpine Avenue, south of Four Mile Road. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the roof. It was too soon for them to know what caused it.
Crews from from Walker, Grand Rapids, Alpine and Plainfield Townships were still on the scene as the sun was about to set.
Residents told WOOD-TV that firefighters rescued at least two cats. There had been no reports of injuries to people, as of the time of this report late Monday afternoon.
