Annual wreath-laying ceremony at President Ford's tomb set for July 14

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The annual Betty Ford Wreath-Laying Ceremony to commemorate President Gerald Ford's 109th birthday is set for July 14th at 9 a.m.

The The President Gerald R. Ford Historical Legacy Trust and the Ford family will conduct the ceremony at the former president's tomb on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Former First Lady Betty Ford started the wreath-laying tradition after the president's death in 2006, and it continues to be conducted on her behalf.

The ceremony will include presentation of wreaths on behalf of President Joseph R. Biden, the Ford family, healthcare workers from Western Michigan, and the Ford School and Ford Institute of the University of Michigan and Albion College.

Members of the Ford family and representatives of the Michigan National Guard usually attend, as well.

Zaneta Adams, director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency will sing the National Anthem.

The presidential museum is located at 303 Pearl St. NW in downtown Grand Rapids.
