STURGIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Sturgis Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday evening.
It happened on South Centerville Road at Fawn River Road in Sturgis Township. Police say a man in his early 30s was found in the parking lot with the gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in Kalamazoo and died a short time later.
Sturgis Public Safety said in a news release it appears to have been an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
Michigan State Police and the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department are assisting Sturgis Public Safety with the investigation.
