MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, MICH. -- The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public to stay clear of downed wires at the scene of traffic crashes, after a Greenville man was electrocuted in Montcalm Township.
It happened Saturday evening on Greenville Road north of Peck Road. Sheriff's deputies say a driver lost control of their vehicle due to slick road conditions and slammed into a power pole, which then snapped in two. That caused power lines to fall across the road. The driver advised a resident who walked up to the crash scene that there was a downed power line, but he may not have heard him.
Deputies found the man lying on the ground unconscious. No word yet on his condition.
